Midlands Warehouse Distribution Centre Handed Over
Our series of articles following the progress of Teccon's improvements to a number of national distribution warehouses as the project comes to and end with this update.
As with stage 1, Teccon delivered the 2 Midlands distribution centres early and on budget with careful planning and no disruption to day to day operations.
What we delivered
Teccon installed two-tier mezzanines in both Midlands warehouses giving more than 2800 sq metres of extra space for mixed purpose use.
In addition, in one warehouse, that previously operated 10,000 pallet locations, alterations have been made, improving operational functionality. This was done in a number of ways by further increased capacity by adding in the region of 2000 bays of Dexion shelving. Rather than having bulk locations the shelving produced in the region of 50,000 sku’s locations, meaning greater flexibility and diversity for storage.
Of the total 2000 bays of Dexion industrial shelving used in the whole project, 1500 of were situated throughout the newly constructed mezzanine floor incorporating hanging garment rails, short span shelving and longspan shelving.
The customers expansion plans required increased capacity of floor space, shelving and greater number of pick locations.
The completed distribution centres have significantly enhanced the operational ability of the company to deliver new product lines and hold more stock in the regions the centres serve.
Strategically the client now has improved capacity to move and deliver stock directly to customers, improving their ability to generate sales through delivery commitment and entering new product arenas.
After a successful project delivered before deadline and on budget the customer has approved a contract for the redevelopment of the space within a further 4000 sq mtrs in a small number of their national distribution centres.
