Clad Rack Cantilever Racking Protects External Stock

A multinational manufacturer of equipment for the construction, agriculture and demolition industry needed a way to protect from the elements, their heavy and large parts that were held outside.

Building on a long-term relationship with Teccon, we were asked to consult and specify a solution for storing a number of items held outside as the company looks to improve the lifespan of raw materials and ensure manufactured stock and parts remain in perfect condition.

After a comprehensive proposal and consultation process the project was secured with a combination of cantilever racking, rack cladding, galvanised pallet racking along with safety features such as mesh decking and rack-end protection.

Challenge

The key challenge for this project was to increase accessibility for large items and raw materials previously held at ground level over a large area, but also to add weather protection.

Moving the items inside or building a new warehouse would be costly and inefficient so our storage solution needed to remain outside, condensing items in smaller area to improve access.

Clad Rack Cantilever Racking

Well known for its suitability to store long or awkward items Cantilever Racking was the choice for both raw materials and finished parts and items that awaited assembly.

The addition of clad racking to protect these valuable assets from the weather meant they didn’t need to be brought inside where housing them wouldn’t have been efficient, being very large and rarely accessed.

Pallet Racking

For the storage of palletised manufactured parts, we installed galvanised Dexion P90 pallet racking with wooden slatted shelving and anti collapse mesh to the rear.

These were to hold heavy parts, already manufactured and awaiting assembly. The unusual shapes and heavy weights involved required the additional security of anti collapse mesh. Treated wooden decking was also used to protect the finished parts from unwanted damage should direct contact with the beams be made.
